Okinawa Heat!

This is insane. The heat here right now is unbearable...deceiving too because it looks so beautiful, but step outside for more than a few minutes and it is a death wish. Thank goodness for a/c indoors. And for a car (although the a/c isn't really working well right now, it needs a new cabin air filter but waaaay better than nothing).

We lived in GTMO for 2 1/2 years in very hot, dry desert conditions and that was pretty bad. But this is way hotter. At least right now. Breezes here are few and far between so it feels like the air has been sucked out of the air. 

In similar news, this morning I took my first fitness class here. Zumba. It was so fun! But there was NO a/c in a room filled with over 40 people. Two small fans were all they had in this large aerobics room. In other words, just there for decoration really. So get this, I would leave the room to go OUTSIDE because it was cooler outdoors than inside! 

I was so red and felt light headed. Never had that feeling before. At first I thought it was just me, the newbie to the island who was dying from the heat.Thankfully it   appears to be worse than normal, some people told me after class ("the a/c must be out")...Really?!... You think?!

Bit still looking forward to attending more Zumba. A little heat won't keep me away. The group was so energized and fun and had rhythm that left me in in the dust. Really. Next time I'll just come prepared to sweat like never before and very well hydrated.
