Iguanas, Big Iguanas

Iguanas. Check these little monsters out!
Well, they aren't monsters, they are very shy passive creatures. But they look like monsters! Iguanas are the Gitmo mascot. They roam around the streets and roads during the day like they own the place.
Did you know these iguanas are endangered in Cuba? They only exist in Gitmo, because they eat them everywhere else. Crazy huh?

Here you see them everywhere. On any given day, you can probably spot 5 or more iguanas.
They aren't shy. They stand out in the open where everyone can see them. Until you try and get close - they'll run away. Better than them coming after you! The iguanas and Gitmo residents have a mutual agreement - we leave each other in peace :)

They are my kind of creature though - relaxed, and love to layout and soak in the sun for hours. Everywhere you go, you see them posing. They strike a pose because they know they are the sexiest beasts alive. Check out some of their more modest pictures:

Like a little dinosaur

I spotted this one in my neighbors driveway!

This guy has been eating waay to much. This is Iguana size XL on steroids.
I'd say he measures about 4 feet head to tail. Huge legs muscles.

Striking a pose for the camera.
