Scholarship
I am happy to announce I was one of the 2 scholarship award recipients for the scholarship contest I applied to!
I was awarded a $1,000 scholarship!
It took a week of essay writing, filling out paperwork, collecting transcripts and 3 letters of recommendations (thanks Shelley, Jennifer, Kari), but my hard work paid off.
This will help to pay for the application fees and my first class in my MBA degree.

Starting MBA Program
I applied to Columbia College here on the base (they have an extension office here). I have completed all their application requirements including letters of recommendation (thanks Janelle, Heather and Lindsay!) etc, and I am ready to start the online MBA program in August. I will be taking 1 online class every 8 weeks. I think I will really like this school format (instead of taking 2-3 classes for 15 weeks). We'll see how it goes! It should take me the 2 1/2 yrs I am in Cuba to complete the degree. This has been my major goal since a few years back, and I am excited to get back to school. I can actually say I've missed it. Although it will probably be different now that I have Gio. But I can't wait!

My New Job
I have also begun working at the college for a few hours a week. I am the Test Proctor. What that means is that I administer and oversee test takers who are taking tests online at the school computer lab. They have this great opportunity here for students working towards their degree- they can come and take a test - called CLEPS or DANTES instead of taking the course. If they pass, they get the course credit. Pretty nice, huh? But it isn't easy to pass the tests. And they can't do that for all classes, but its ideal for lower level classes.
I work 3 days a week: every Tue/Thu -10-1pm, and every other Wed or Sat for 3 hours. I like the schedule. Just a little something to give me a break from the house and Gio. A whopping total of 7-10 hrs/week hahahaha. But I'm a working woman again! =)
