Keys, Cars, and Houses - Okinawa

A view of cars and houses around the island of Okinawa, west coast

Cars

One of the car dealers on bases. Need a few keys??
This isn't typical, but I thought it was hilarious so I had to snap it.
Not surprisingly, it took him a while to find the correct key.

Driving - Right side of the car, Left side of the road. Must learn to drive bacwkrads!

Intersection

Cars - they like them boxy :)

Japanese dealership

Driving around town
The Lemon Lot on base - where people park their cars for sale.

 Houses

We will be living off base! Here are some of the houses we have been looking into.

Nice, new duplex. American-style construction

The White House (that is the actual name of this house). I liked this one.

A cool red floor with sliding Japanese-style walls.

Terrace with a view. That is our housing agent in the background. He's from Egypt.
A typical view. As you can see, houses here are a mix of old and new... primarily concrete, and usually unpainted with visible signs of the the heavy rains.

Modern Japanese home (versus the American-style homes they build for military families)

Japanese rooms with movable walls.

Japanese-style room. I don't know the official name.
A convertible room used to sleep (on the floor), live, pray, etc.

Exterior of a typical Japanese house (versus American style construction)

Nice Apartment home with a view of the beach.

I liked that this room was not plain white. Loved the floors.

A really nice living room. Hurricane shutters

Checking out a beach. That is a floating dock with people fishing.

A potential condo. lucky us! But we aren't going with this one

New Tower of Condos

Sunset view from our hotel room tonight.
The building on the left is the department store on base (PX). It's one of the largest anywhere - two stories high!
