Camping in Okuma, Okinawa June 2014

We had a super fun, memorable camping experience recently with our friends, the Doss Family. This being our second trip to Okuma, it was a much more pleasant experience despite the 100% forecast for heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning.

Trying to start a fire in windy weather. Eventually, success! S'mores then light showers followed later

Our camping site the morning after. Rain? What rain?

The weekend actually turned out to be much nicer with only a few light showers, some lightning shows in the distance, and steady winds. But overall, we had a great one-night stay. Granted we were only one of two daring camping groups who decided to ignore the forecasts and just "go for it".

The following day was clear, sunny and perfect for our sun-drenched beach day!

Kiddos admiring the hermit crab they caught and ready for beach day!

"North Beach" Okuma on our way to the water

We played in the waves, did a little snorkeling, and even ventured on a fast-speed banana boat ride!

Clear skies, clear blue water, and great company. What more could we ask for?!

Sure, we left more burnt than anything else, but it was totally worth it. We hope to do it again soon!
